On the Farm and the State Fair

Our hen hatched a chick! She sat on about 15 eggs forever, and they kept dwindling down (we're pretty sure our dog is responsible for that) and at the end, one little chick hatched. In the top photo, is the chick the day she was born. The girls named her Princess Puffball, so I'm claiming it as female. And the bottom photo is the chick today, at 10 days old. So cute!

A few weeks ago, this note appeared on my refrigerator:
Evidently Nathan shot and KILLED a bird with his BB gun. I didn't even know that was possible. Thanking my stars that it wasn't a chicken.

We recently attended the Kansas State Fair. It was SO HOT that day! I think 104 with 80% humidity. And we are NOT used to humidity in our part of the state. Otherwise, it was really a nice day.
The kids all qualified for the state pedal pull and did really well. Here Nathan is waiting his turn to pull.
Nathan had entered a photograph and got a blue ribbon. He was so excited!
We let the kids do a maze. The guy told us it would take 7 to 10 minutes and 30 minutes later the kids were still in there.
Here Anna is driving me in a boat.
 Emilie at the pedal pull.
And Anna at the pedal pull.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, Philippians 1:9-10

Love,
xoxo
