Here is the back of the dress. The samples were made out of non-stretch velvet (triple velvet).
The weather cooperated and gave me some snow for these doll Christmas photos.
Of course the dress is based on my daughters' actual Christmas dresses. Although Anna's is finished, it has yet to be photographed. Guess what color Anna's dress is? The cute flowers on all the dresses are loosely based on this tutorial and used with permission: http://thelittletreasures.blogspot.com/2012/03/last-minute-gifts-organza-rose-tutorial.html (Thank you Maya!) And by the way, hers are much prettier. I gathered the edge of ribbon for these.
This is a fast, 3 pattern piece project! You have time to make it for Christmas. In fact, you can make it and enter to win some great prizes at ReannaLily Design's Small Sewn Gifts sewalong. (You could even win something from me!)

Merry Christmas! Celebrating the birth of Christ.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
