I had bought some ruffle fabric at market, and this seemed a great place to use it. Although I didn't buy enough for a full skirt and had to improvise. My local sewing store carries a lot of polyester "silk" dupioni. It's nice to sew with and washes in the machine.
Anna is a skinny minnie, so I made her a 7 for the width and 10 for the length. This dress runs big though, so a couple sizes smaller on the width would have been plenty. I was able to make it smaller by sewing a thin elastic into the seam allowance along the back.
The dress just seemed to call for a hat. I found this free crochet pattern (which didn't take long at all) and made it to match. (of course like in everything I do, I did change it just a bit.) The flower was just something I threw together from the leftover ruffle scrap.
Anna loves it. So one Easter dress down!
