What's On Your Bed: Marie Madeline Studio

Oh do I have a special treat for you today! The Marie Madeline Studio ladies are here to show off two of their bedrooms. Swoon! Thanks so much Kristie, Apphia, Achaia, Abigail and Abiah. If you don't know Marie Madeline, they design beautiful patterns and also run a fabric store. Oh and I know they have much more in store in the future. So excited to have them here today.

Hello, everyone!  We’re so happy to be on Melissa’s blog for her What’s on Your Bed? feature!  Today we wanted to show you Kristie’s and Apphia’s rooms.
Kristie’s room is happy pinks and aquas, with small dashes of red.  We made the pillows out of Tanya Whelan’s Ava Rose fabric collection, along with scraps and bits of old lace, a vintage Wilendur tablecloth, and a Rachel Ashwell velvet curtain.  After some looking Kristie found several of the exact same tablecloth used on the pillows, so with some help from our grandmother we made them into Roman shades.  Vintage postcards are framed and hung on the wall, and an old ladder from a flea market is draped with all kinds of happy, colorful quilts (sorry, we forgot to take a picture of it!).
The picture of the little shelf is above a small corner closet.  The shelf holds vintage milk glass planters and serving dishes, loaded down with old pink and aqua Christmas ornaments.  We used an old chenille bedspread for the closet curtain.  The canopy above the bed was also a DIY project!
Apphia’s room, as you can see, is gold, shades of pink, and black.  Apphia made all the pillows herself using vintage damask tablecloths, moirĂ©, black cotton polka dots, and a vintage drape.  The turquoise lamps were one of the first things our grandparents had when they got married in 1962.  Apphia also made the balloon curtains, and added black ribbon and tassels to the ends.  The glass jars on the dresser house a lot of Apphia’s fun embellishments.... velvet ribbon, wool, beads, etc.  For the button decoration, Apphia got a plain bulletin board and simply used shimmery pink headed pins to tack up a bunch of vintage button cards.  The mannequin was a gift from some friends, and it works just perfectly with the rest of Apphia’s room.
Also (we forgot to picture this too), one of Apphia’s walls has a 6 paned chippy pink window hanging on it, with gold sconces mounted on each side.  The window was glass-less when she bought it, so Dad found mirrors to fit each space in place of glass panes.
We hope you enjoyed a peek around Kristie’s and Apphia’s rooms!  Achaia, Abigail, and Abiah all share one room, but the sheets were getting washed, and the room was in shambles when it was time to get pictures taken.  Suffice to say that with one set of bunk beds, a twin bed, two hope chests, one small cedar chest, two long dressers, one full closet, and a bookshelf, things are what we like to call happily crowded!
Please stop by our blog, www.mariemadelinestudio.typepad.com, where we share recent sewing projects, recipes, tutorials, and the newest goodies available on our website, www.mariemadelinestudio.com.  xoxo Kristie, Apphia, Achaia, Abigail, & Abiah

Thanks again to the Long ladies! I can't leave you without a picture of them.

Love,
xoxo

  1. What beautiful rooms! I am loving the pink and aqua and red Kristie! Apphia your room makes me think of some of the vintage decor. Mostly because of the colors. Thanks for sharing!
