Summer

You know those lazy days of summer everyone talks about? Boy, could I use some of those! It's a good thing I only planned to take my kids to their activities this summer, because that is ALL I have accomplished. Between baseball, T-ball, swimming club, junior golf and crafts, we have been BUSY!

Also, have you heard about Hill City, Kansas, lately? It's where I'm from and for the past 5 days straight, it has been the hot spot in the NATION with temps around 115. Hill City is an hour east of here and we have been downright cool over here in the west, topping out at 114 or lower. Ha! I hope it's cooler where you are.

Stay cool!

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

Spotlight on All Dolled Up Tote

This has got to be one of the best sellers I've had. People seem to love both the tote and the kit. My local quilt shop had the idea of using it to haul quilting supplies with the dividers perfect for holding interfacings and stabilizers.
Great news! It's also available as a kit and this one is such a bargain.
For $45, you get:
pattern
4 yards coordinating fabric -- four different prints quilting cotton
2 yards Peltex fusible 71F
2 yards heavy cotton webbing
15" Velcro
7" zipper

Now as you know, four yards of fabric can cost over $40 by itself and Peltex fusible is $10 or more a yard. You get to choose your fabric color. You can order the kit here. If you already have the supplies and would just like the pattern, you can order the pattern alone as well. This one also is highly recommended as an e-pattern.

 Happy sewing!

Love,
xoxo

Anna's Room Redo

Before:

After:
Bedding: pink quilt (back of the quilt I made for her), white chenille (antique store), sheets (Pottery Barn dorm from ebay).

Dresser: decoupage! (instructions here) fabric: Luna by Gail Fountain from Maywood Studios, dresser hardware (salvaged from other projects) Curtains: WalMart

Antique white magazine (book) rack: ebay

She had so many art projects pinned to her walls. I made her choose four and we framed and hung them.
Anna really needed storage, but I wanted it to be pretty. She is a crafter, loved doll clothes, and has lots of little toys. I bought hat boxes to double as night stands. Top and bottom are Shabby Pink Gardenia from Waverly available on ebay here. Middle is Shabby Chic pink hatbox set from QVC. It comes in a set of three and the other two make her other night stand.

Happy birthday Anna!

Kelli has a really cute etsy shop and you can check her out there.

While we're talking about the Joy Bag, let me tell you about the kit available in the Lilac Lane etsy shop. This kit contains:
Pattern
5 fat quarters of Hello Luscious by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics
1 yard Pellon 926
1 7" zipper
1 magnetic snap

Have you seen Hello Luscious by BasicGrey? I used a lot in my book and it is gorgeous! Here's the Make Life Quilt from the book (sewn by Hollie Lobosky) made from Hello Luscious.
The supplies would cost at least $36 to purchase separately, but I am selling the kit for $23. Supplies are limited!

Look at that lineup!

I've shown the cover for the book many, many times, but here it is once more.
The premise of the book is easy. I'm just telling you about what I do. You all know I love to sew, but I also love interior design, cooking, crafting, gardening and living on my beautiful little farm. I decided to set it up in months and each month contains a quilt pattern, recipe, craft and garden tip. But there's lots of extras like learning the art of canning, flower arranging, and making a bag from a sweater.
In fact there are more than 45 projects in the book as well as tons of tips for every day life. I was so privileged that the publisher, QuiltWoman.com, allowed me to do my own photography and layout. Tons of time went into the creation, and I am so proud of the outcome.

Oh how I would love to share all the projects with you. Make sure you leave me a comment with your favorite hobby so that you have a chance to win a copy.
The book costs $24.95 in a project-friendly spiral bound edition that lays flat. It is $29.95 for hard cover. I invite you to visit my Lilac Lane etsy store to purchase your choice. Leave me a note with your purchase if you would like it signed.

Love,
xoxo
