Linda K. Hubalek's Trail of Thread

Not long ago, I was introduced to the writings of Linda Hubalek. She is a Kansas author who writes historical fiction about the pioneers of the old west. This was immediately interesting to me.

The writing, although fiction, is about her own family. You will be drawn in to their daily hardships and blessings as they travel from Kentucky to Kansas in The Trail of Thread. Quilt lovers, rejoice! The book also highlights quilts and quilt blocks from the mid-19th century.
The book is written entirely from the perspective of Deborah Pieratt, the author's great-great-great grandmother. It is in the form of letters to her deeply missed step-mother, who was left behind in Kentucky. Deborah struggles with what to pack in her covered wagon, walking beside the wagon for months, crossing rivers and being stranded for days while their "men" scouted the area. It's a great book to read and be thankful for the blessings we have today.

I will be reviewing all 3 books in the Trail of Thread series. I will also have an interview with Linda coming soon and possibly even a giveaway! I hope you will pick up your own copies of Linda's books at  her website.

Love,
xoxo
