Sewn Hats Book Tour

I'm so excited to share with you a little bit about a great book! The new book, Sewn Hats, by Carla Crim has hit the bookshelves of your favorite store. And boy is it great.
Carla asked me if I could make up a pattern for a chef's hat. Isn't this sweet? It's called the Sweetie Pie Chef's Hat. It's completely reversible, so if you wanted a serious side, you could potentially make one side plain. Of course, I couldn't do that!
Here's me in the hat. Isn't that a funny picture?
And here is Emilie, showing off the reversible side. Also if you cuff the band up in half, it makes a great hat for everyday. Plus it's easy.

I wanted to make up a couple of the projects so you would see my take on them, but quilt market is quickly approaching and the time got away! Maybe by market, I'll have some made and you can come see me in them in my booth.

Of course, this is just one of the 35 projects included in the book. The contributors include: Patty Young, Kaari Meng, Joanna Figueroa, Kathy Mack, Dolin O'Shea, Lisa Carroccio, Alexia Marcelle Abegg, heather Niziolek, Jaime Morrison Curtis and Jacinda Boneau, Karen LePage, Jennifer Hagedorn, Shelly Figueroa, Bonnie Shaffer, Jess Christian, Bari J. Ackerman, Mary Abreu, Jennifer Paganelli, Irene Rodegerdts, Anneliese S., Linda and Scott Hansen, Betz White, Kim Christopherson, Melissa Averinos, Val Pillow and Anne Maxfield, and me!
So who would like to win a copy? Unfortunately, this drawing is only open to the US this time. Leave me a comment telling me something about hats. Do you wear them? What's your favorite? Have you made one before? etc. One winner will be drawn at the conclusion of the book tour. Make sure to visit these other blogs for your chance to win.

  1. I do wear hats, usually baseball caps. The only hats I've made were for Halloween. (I really like the chefs hats you created.)

  2. I think hats are fun! I have never made a hat, but I remember making cute little triangle scarfs with ties to match some of my dresses when I was in elementary school!

I love your chef's hat design!

  3. The chef's hat is utterly adorable! I love to make hats, but haven't made many lately, aside from tiny fascinator hats on a headband for costumes.

  4. I LOVE hats - always have! I make them and wear all different kinds, depending on the season and the weather. I also make them for my grandchildren who wear them. The two and four year olds (the oldest) also love to cook. I'm sure they'd love it if I made them one of your darling chefs' hats! I'd be thrilled if I won a copy of this book!!!

  6. I love my Life is Good hats. I had skin cancer in the past, so a hat is a must! One of my daughters is getting to the age she doesn't want to wear a hat, so this looks like a geat book! If she can pick out the fabric AND make the hat, how can she say no? This book is going on my wishlist!

  8. I don't wear them much because I have a larger head than most women (I think) so they always seem tight. I would love to make my own - and make some for my daughter. She looks Adorable in hats!

  13. I have always loved hats, but have yet to find one that I think I look good in. I love to knit hats for charity, so sewn hats would be great to make, too.

  16. I wear a big-brim hat when I'm gardening but not a chef's hat when I'm cooking. I'm looking forward to this book and making a new garden hat to replace my faded one.

  17. So many great hats. I'd love to make one for my grandson who is almost 2 years old and loves hats. I've never sewn one, only knitted and crocheted hats before. I'd loke to give it a go though.

Thank you and Wiley Publishing for a great giveaway and a chance to win.

  19. I have made 3 hats and they were all the same pattern. One for a six yr old girl and one for her American Girl Doll and one for a one yr old girl. They turned out so cute that I've been wanting to find a pattern that I like to make one for myself and one for my 2 yr old son.
