Rockin' Robin Quilt Along

Yay!  It's finally time to talk about the Rockin' Robin Quilt Along.

This concept was a Row Robin and is the idea of Jen of ReannaLily Designs. I was so excited when she asked me to join in the fun and create a row! Do you know what a Row Robin is? It is a quilt made in, usually, horizontal rows and each row is a different style or type. Many times ladies would pass the quilt along to the next person in the group and add a row. The quilt would continue to be passed around until it arrived back to the original owner- with all sorts of surprises- from fabric, to design, to technique. It is really a neat idea. Round Robin quilts are done this way, around a center medallion quilt.

You'll be able to create you own quilt, in your own colors and you can even change the size. Along the way, there are five of us designers who made up the entire quilt, which will be revealed one row at a time, and we all used completely different colors and styles. It's so customizable, it's easy and it will be so fun!!!!

Each week, the 5 Row Robin bloggers will show you their own stitched row design and link you to the blog tutorial for that row. We want to keep each new row a surprise, just like a traditional Row Robin, but I promise you'll love it. Each one is so customizeable that you can make it your own.

The row sizes given will yield a 48″ x 60″ baby quilt. Of course, as with most modern, some-what improvised designs, you can easily make this quilt larger, simply by making the rows longer or making some rows twice.

Here are the designers:
July 5 Row 1- Lisa Marie from That Crazy Quilty Girl
July 11 Row 2- Melissa from Lilac Lane
July 18 Row 3- Heather and Megan from Quilt Story
July 25 Row 4- Anne Marie of Gen X Quilters
July 31 Row 5-Jen at ReannaLily Designs Blog

The first row design goes live on Tuesday, July 5th and we’ll have another one each Monday after that for the next four weeks.  Start collecting a nice background fabric and a pile of focus fabrics. You probably need about 3 yards of background fabric, more if you decide to make a bigger quilt. And then some focus fabrics -- I used scraps of course! But someone used yardage of their favorite designer, another used a layer cake, yet another used fat quarters.

Oh, and we have a flickr page you need to join to see all the pretties and add your own. And also a button for your side bar!

Go Fly a Kite

A little note about the blog: there is now a little printer friendly button on the bottom of each post. That means if you want to print a recipe or tutorial, it's now very easy to do so!

Something Fun is Right Around the Corner

Want to know what I've been working on?

Well, I can't tell you yet. But it will be SO fun! And for once, you don't have to wait long to find out . . . just until the 27th. So I'm not teasing you too much this time. Wait and see!

New Etsy Items

Hi everyone! Well, my computer was down, but I was able to get quite a bit of work done while it was. So all was not lost. I did some testing with prints from my Honey Sweet fabric line. Since they probably will never be printed to fabric, but I still love them SO much, I decided to offer them as 8 x 8 prints. They print up so vibrant and beautiful. The good news is, you now get to see the main parts of the Honey Sweet line! Anyway, I am printing them each onto archival quality, acid-free cardstock. It's nice and heavy and a good quality for framing. AND, I'm only printing 50 of each print and then numbering and signing them. Each print is only $10, but you can buy all three for $25. AND for the next week, using the coupon code honeysweet at checkout, you can buy these and receive FREE SHIPPING on my entire Etsy site! Yes, even internationally! I hope you enjoy the prints.

If you're confused why this won't be printed by Andover, they just needed something fresh and new that lots of people hadn't seen and worked on already. If I didn't say that before, I'm sorry and everything is fine in my fabric world!

Hello from Grandma's House

Hi everyone. I'm visiting my parents and thought I should see if the blogger problems are all me or blogger. Looks like they're all me. I did find a couple of SWEET pictures on my mom's computer that you might enjoy. My Nathan at about 1 1/2 years old (look at those big blue eyes) and my just born Anna. Yeah they're only 17 months apart. But only because Anna was a premie. Should have been 18 months! My computer is being fixed now and hopefully I'll be able to be back soon!

To Ad or not to Ad?

I NEED your opinion! I've thought about blog advertising for awhile. And now I've been chosen to be part of one of those big blog networks. So I need to make a decision. Yes or no? On the one hand, more people would see this blog, and that's a good thing! But on the other hand, I always feel kind of funny about ads. Sort of . . . yucky. What do you think? Please respond!!!

Coffee or Tea?

Good morning. Do you prefer coffee or tea? I've always tried to love tea. My grandma did and it seemed like a way to be close to her. But alas I'm a coffee girl. Decaf that is. With lots of cream and sugar. I found this pretty Fiestaware mug and it seemed like a good way to drink coffee and make it feel really special. It's so dainty. And pretty on my little Fire King Alice saucers. I bought those a long time ago for a dollar and the other day my mom was taken in with them. She researched to find out what they were and they turned out to be the Anchor Hocking Fire King stuff (you know, like Jadite?). I buy things if they're pretty not because of value. I like turquoise and pink. And yellow. And red. And cobalt blue. Oh and green. (smile) Have a good day!

You Have to See This

My first ever dress I've made!!
Isn't this so cute? It's from the Lilac Lane flickr group from JulesGee. I couldn't find out anything else about her, but if I do, I'll let you know. Her little dress is my Riley Blake tutorial, Summer Song Sundress.

And this one is also from the flickr group, from Quilted Seasons. I love the more rounded pillow. Of course this is the no-sew (ha ha ha did I say NO sew? I meant all machine sewn. ha ha ha) cathedral windows tutorial. Click my sidebar tutorial link to make either one for yourself.
