Walker Bag Tutorial
Supplies:
Two pieces of fabric cut 19" x 30". At least one should be home dec weight.
Four pieces of ribbon, cut 16 inches long each.Fray check.
Optional decorative accessories.
Instructions:
Take the two pieces of fabric and face them right sides together. Sew all the way around with a 1/2" seam, leaving a 6" opening on one side. Clip the corners. Turn right sides out through the opening and press flat.
Fold up each side 6 1/2" to make the pockets. Make sure the fabric you want to mostly show on the front shows as you fold. Place each ribbon one inch down from the top of the pocket. Pin in place. Topstitch down each side. Fray check ribbon ends.
Make pockets by stitching from the fold up to the top of the pocket in several places. Be thoughtful about the sizes -- one large pocket probably won't do much good. But a pencil sized pocket and several 4-6 inch ones are very handy. If you want to add trim across the pocket tops, be sure to do this before you stitch the pockets in place.
Now embellish with ricrac, pompoms, buttons, iron-ons, etc. If you know the person this is for, it's easy to fit their personality. And thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
Love,
xoxo
