Anna wanted to learn how to use the sewing machine. She made this quilt for her dolls, but I'm pretty sure she can fit under it. Every time I would ask her if it was finished, she would say, "We haven't used all the fabric I picked out yet!" I think she inherited this from her dad. ha ha
Anyway, I used the rotary cutter and she sewed. Luckily, my machine has a VERY SLOW setting which was perfect for her. We did quite a bit of ripping out, but in the end, she can say she made a quilt. And how many 5 year olds can say that?
She couldn't reach the peddle, so we put it up on this shelf under the sewing machine. How cute!
Love,
xoxo

Oh I love her quilt!! What a wonderful thing - for her and for you! I think it is so great that you let her do all the sewing. :)
Looks like talent runs in the family!!
Hi Melissa
What a clever girl!
The quilt is really good - I hope you're proud of her!

I love it! you must be a great teacher too. My daughter is 5 and trying to learn. Getting her to stay along the foot is our newest lesson. Did your daughter Bind and quilt it too!? Wow momma whatever she did - you have to be proud! Look at that smile on her face! I love it! Proud of you both!!!
*hugs*

My girls have been working on their first quilts for the last few weeks as well. My 5 year old is almost done with hers but my teenager is being a little slower on hers. My Ahnalin did everything on her quilt except for the pressing and some of the safety pins. She is still working on the hand quilting, which is going slower than the machine sewing did. She is hoping to get it all done to enter in the fair next week.
I let them each pick out a Moda Charm Pack of fabrics and that was how they did their quilt tops. They are looking great!
*that* is adorable!
Very cute indeed! She looks so proud of herself as she should be.
My Mom use to hold My son on her lap and they sew together. The last time he made a quilt was when he was 15, he made it for a friend then announced her was done and never sewing again, I'm hoping he'll change his mind some day.
that is so sweet, i hope so much that one day, when they're old enough, my girls will like sewing, too. you must be such a proud mummy:-)
