Why? Well, I had a kind of rotten morning and I know you will all be excited and leave comments. I could use the positive reinforment. :) This morning I got a bill for something I thought would be about $70-$80 and it was $560!!!!! I'm still in sort of shock and sick to my stomach. It was something totally unnecessary that I had printed. And I'm not mad at the printer. Instead, I am so mad at myself. Why didn't I ask how much it would be instead of assuming it wouldn't be too much? Maybe because when people do a service for you that will be A LOT, they usually warn you. Like, "Did you know this will be $560?" "NO! I'll just not do it for now." Anyway . . .
The secret. Yeah. I have wanted to design fabric FOREVER. So this spring, I went for it and designed a line. 24 fabrics, divided in 3 colorways (8 per colorway.) Then I had it printed by a digital printing company (not the thing I'm talking about above) and three of my very good friends and I have been sewing it into stuff. Skirts, shirts, bags, folders, etc etc etc. Oh a big quilt. The four of us are getting ready for the INTERNATIONAL QUILT MARKET!!!! in Minneapolis, Minnesota and we leave two weeks from yesterday. I'm hoping to get picked up by a fabric company. I'm hoping you are excited for me. I can't show the fabric because, well, somebody might copy me. I hope I can't show it for a LONG time. But at least not until after market.
So no pics today. Just a long story. For those of you who thought, "That Melissa just isn't what she used to be. She used to make an apron a day. She used to show us new stuff all the time." I'm still doing it, I promise. I just can't show it!
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
For I know the plan I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Love,

Congrats on your new endeavor! I'm excited to someday see your fabrics and wish you well at the show. Sounds like so much fun. I've never been to a big show, but would love to go someday!
Here's hoping you can only show us sneak peaks. Congrats on going for a dream.
Eek on the $560! Stuff like that makes me sick to my stomach too.
The new fabric line is very exciting! Good luck at the quilt market. I can't wait to see it!
Stink on the bill! How exciting about the fabric! I hope you get picked up too!
*I* am still in shock and awe over your bill, so I can just imagine how you feel!
Also, *I'm* going nuts not being able to show off your fabric, so I can just imagine how you feel! haha
Market is going to be a blast and I just can't wait.
I'm so stinkin' excited for you, but you already know that!
And I'm glad you posted this so we don't have to be as secretive all the time!
Wow I hope that your designs work well and that you peak the interest of a fabric company. So sorry about that enormous bill. That really sounds unreasonable. Perhaps you can make an appeal? Tell them you are a budding designer and don't have that kind of money to invest in printing, and yes I should have asked, but yes they should have given you a quote. Hope it all works out.
Congrats on the exciting news...hopefully the other will be worked out ok!
Yeah sounds so fun! I hope a fabric company picks you up! And I hope that the other thing works out for you. We have all made mistakes so don't be too hard on yourself~ Look forward to the good things to come!

I'm so excited for you I hope it goes well at Market. Here's to dreams and having the guts to follow them.
Melissa - sorry the bill was a real shocker! (they should have been up front about the price)
Wishing you HUGE success at Market!
ohhhhh, how exciting is that! The best of luck to you in this new adventure!
Between you and Lisa there is so much going on!! Can't wait to say "I knew her when..." Happy to see you pursuing your dream. When you get picked up by a fabric company you'll have more than enough to pay that bill!! (Sounds a little like a hospital bill we got once.) Hope to see you soon.
Melissa,
Don't get discouraged with that bill. Your doing something awesome, following a passion. How great is that?!
You lucky...lucky...girl!
Congratulations! I will (try to) wait patiently until you can reveal the new line :)
Sorry about the huge bill - what a shock!!!!
The fabric sounds really exciting for you though - can we just have a teeny peak????

And crud on the bill! We keep getting doctor/hospital bills for my son's elbow surgery in January. Perfect timing on him breaking it, less than a month after we went from 100% coverage to 70%. Bills. Bah!
Now back to happy, good luck at the Market! Cannot wait to read all about it.
